Basic Woodworking: Moscow Mules + Power Tools

We were both so pumped for this workshop and it didn't disappoint!  The students braved the rain on Saturday night and learned to use a miter saw, jig saw, power drill, and hammer!  The result: A killer diamond-shaped, wall-mounted jewelry holder with a copper rod.  No sitting around watching paint dry either.  In between power-tool steps we pulled up stools to our bead bar to create one-of-a-kind tasseled necklaces - the perfect summer accessory!
This is a workshop we are already putting on the books again - look out in September for Moscow Mules + Power Tools, Part Deux (class size limited)!

Flower Arranging:101

Skills + Frills got two bites at the apple!  We were lucky enough to host another team-building workshop for the creative ladies of One Kings Lane. This time: Flowers!

On the lesson plan: textured greens, interesting shapes, vases in brown paper bags and gold scissors.  We played with dahlias, kale, billy balls and eucalyptus. Random - we know!  It's easy for pretty flowers to look pretty with lots of other pretty flowers.  Our test was to play with height, texture, color and shapes.  With a few tricks of the trade all of the arrangements were asymmetrical stunners.
Everyone munched on apples - Jolly Ranchers - Laffy Taffy - and arranged away!
This syllabus for this workshop was streamlined and everyone aced their final!  Thank you ladies!

Skills + Frills at Sourced Collective

What a night!  We made the trip down to Laguna Beach to host a workshop at the wonderful Sourced Collective.  We taught an incredible group of ladies how to make woven wall hangings and enjoyed a perfect evening.  The weather was dreamy, the ladies were creative and warmly open, and our venue couldn't have been more inspiring!  With bead-adorned crowns and yarn-laced needles we crafted well into the night (in fact we went nearly 2 hours over our normal workshop time!!).  Sourced, ladies, we look forward to seeing you again soon!

We topped our kits with triangles we cut out of rad geode paper from Paper Source and Himalayan Sea Salts.  We love it when we can double up on uses for things!  The Salts not only look cool, they are fantastic in a relaxing bath!

Ladies you were seriously incredible! What a fun, interesting, diverse group of women who did not want to stop weaving!!! We're so thrilled you enjoyed the night and we are stoked on how well your wall hangings came out!  (So sorry we missed some of you in the photo and HOW did we not get a close up of the lightening bolt?!)   Agh!!!

Happy weaving!
